AB’s Idiosyncrasy
The word “idiosyncratic” means eccentric, or differing from the norm. Accordingly, AB’s Idiosyncrasy magazine serves to fulfill this definition—that is, standing out from the crowd—and did so this past summer. Spearheaded by the incumbent Editor-in-Chief Songyao Wang and advisors Mrs. Scott and Mrs. Telicki, the Idiosyncrasy team submitted their magazine to the American Scholastic Press Association Competition and impressively beat out 2,000 other high school magazines for the first place prize.
Idiosyncrasy publishes two to three issues per year. Each themed issue attempts to enlighten students about the happening culture outside of a local sphere. These topics vary per issue, and range from worldwide festivals to riveting conspiracies. Writers choose topics about which to write a one or two page article. Any AB student can write for Idiosyncrasy and if interested should e-mail idiosyncrasy.mag@gmail.com or join the Facebook group online. Regardless of writing ability, everyone is welcome. With the bulk of staff comprising seniors, leadership positions will be available next year.
The success of this extraordinary cultural magazine is the fruition of countless hours of hard work from all of the various people that keep Idiosyncrasy running. Idiosyncrasy has secured its place as one of the ABRHS’s countless achievements, and will continue to provide its audience with insight into the everchanging and diverse world.
