Tina Sun Shines
Ever since I started writing for The Spectrum, I have written for the Entertainment section, not just because I love reviewing TV shows, plays, and movies, but also because of Tina Sun’s guidance. The first time submitted a draft, I received a prompt reply from Tina providing suggestions and grammatical corrections. Under her direction, I made articles more interesting and appealing. Tina was always nice and helpful, compelling me to work with her. She was always the first editor to have articles in on time for layout, and she worked quickly and efficiently manner. Ms. Hammond, The Spectrum advisor, says, “Tina Sun has shown tremendous growth in confidence and skill as a writer and editor and has embraced the Entertainment section with genuine enthusiasm. I have enjoyed working with her, and have appreciated her commitment to the whole paper; she was often the source of ideas for other sections besides her own.”
Tina began writing for The Spectrum during her sophomore year, becoming Entertainment Editor a year later. Over her years with The Spectrum, she wrote over twenty articles, contributing greatly to the newspaper. I, along with many others, will be sad to see her leave us.
Tina not only displayed her talent in The Spectrum, but in other activities as well. She played clarinet in the band and was a member of the color guard team. Tina was also an active member in student government as a representative in the school committee as well as a class officer in her freshman and junior years.
Tina plans on attending the University of Pennsylvania this fall. Amrita Mehta, a fellow staff member of The Spectrum and a friend of Tina’s, spoke very highly of her, saying, “Tina was always a dedicated editor and an amazing friend. She will be very successful next year at UPenn.” I only hope that I can live up to her accomplishments. Good luck, Tina!
